Can I adjust the date of an existing daily log?
No. Once a daily log is created, the date associated with the original daily log cannot be edited. However, you can duplicate an existing daily log and adjust the creation date of the new copy. The original daily log can then be deleted from the Project if necessary.
Can I create multiple logs at once?
No. Only one daily log can be created at a time in ConstructionOnline.
Can a Project automatically record weather conditions?
Yes! With ConstructionOnline's automatic weather tracking, the weather conditions for a Project will be recorded 5 times per day in 3-hour intervals. ConstructionOnline pulls from over 15,000 global weather stations to collect daily weather conditions including the location's temperature, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, visibility, and more. These conditions are presented in the form of Daily Weather Summaries, which cannot be edited or deleted from a Project. Please note that automatic weather tracking must be enabled on a per-Project basis and is not automatically turned on for each Project in ConstructionOnline.
Are attachments from daily logs also uploaded to Project Files and/or Photos?
No, daily log attachments are not automatically uploaded to Project Files and/or Photos. To share daily log attachments with ClientLink™ Users or download attachments in bulk at a later time, daily log attachments must be manually saved to the Project. Right-click on a daily log attachment and select the option "Save to Project" to save the attachment to All Files for the Project.
Can I create my own custom daily log type?
No. However, ConstructionOnline provides users with nine different specialized daily log types: Work Log, Equipment Log, Materials Log, Project Notes, Observed Weather Log, Visitor Log, Delivery Log, Safety Log, and Delay Log. More information about the differences between each type of daily log can be found in Understanding Daily Log Types.
Can I set reminders for daily logs?
Yes! You can create custom reminders for the creation of daily logs in ConstructionOnline. Daily log reminders can be set for a specific day, time, & frequency for one or more ConstructionOnline Users. When a daily log hasn't been created according to the specified parameters, users will receive an email and/or text notification prompting them to fill out the specific log(s) before the end of the work day.
Why isn't weather tracking working for a Project?
There are a couple of reasons why a Project may not be recording weather tracking entries––also known as Daily Weather Summaries.
- Weather tracking has not been enabled for the Project: weather tracking is not automatically turned on for ConstructionOnline Projects and must be manually enabled for each individual Project. If weather tracking has not been enabled for a Project, the Day view of Daily Logging will display the message "Weather tracking not enabled for this project". Step-by-step instructions and more information can be found in the article Enable Weather Tracking.
- The Project is missing a Zip/Postal Code and Latitude & Longitude Coordinates: weather tracking requires either a valid Zip/Postal Code or Latitude & Longitude Coordinates to record daily weather conditions. If these have been removed from Project Details, ConstructionOnline will stop recording weather conditions and Daily Weather Summaries will no longer appear from that date on.
Please note that weather tracking cannot backlog prior weather conditions.
Can I create daily logs using the CO™ Mobile App?
Yes! When out on the job site, you can use the CO™ Mobile App on your mobile device to create daily log entries. Step-by-step instructions can be found in the article Create new Daily Logs in the Mobile App.
Do work logs automatically generate when an employee clocks out?
No. However, if your company has a Business or Enterprise Plan, your employees can clock in & out of the job site with ConstructionOnline's Time Tracking feature. When your employees clock out using the browser version of ConstructionOnline or the CO™ Mobile App, they will be prompted to fill out a work log. Please note that this option is only available when an employee clocks in/out to a specific Project. More instructions can be found in the article Clock Out Using Time Tracking.
You can check your company's ConstructionOnline subscription level by accessing your Company Account details.
Can I delete or hide weather tracking entries?
Weather tracking entries, also known as Daily Weather Summaries, cannot be removed from a Project. However, the Timeline View of Daily Logging has an option to hide weather entries from your Daily Logging timeline. By marking the checkbox "Hide Weather Entries", you can streamline your Daily Log Timeline view to just logs. To make weather entries reappear, simply unmark the same checkbox.
Can I disable weather tracking for a Project?
Yes! To disable weather tracking for a Project that has already enabled it, go to the Project Details page and remove the Project's Zip/Postal Code and Latitude & Coordinates. Once the location fields have been removed from Project Details, weather tracking will be disabled and daily weather conditions will stop recording. After weather tracking has been disabled, you can add the Project's location information back to Project Details if necessary; however, please note that weather tracking will not turn back on automatically and must be manually enabled again. Disabling weather tracking will not delete any prior entries from the Project—it will only stop recording any future weather conditions.
Can I create daily log templates?
No. However, daily logs in ConstructionOnline can be duplicated after creation—saving valuable time & resources when logs may be the same from day to day.
How do I share daily logs with clients?
There are two different options to share daily logs with clients in ConstructionOnline:
- Give them permission to view daily logs in the Project Portal: if your clients are using the Project Portal to stay up-to-date and informed during their projects, you can set your ClientLink™ permissions for Daily Logging as "View all Daily Log Entries". This means that when a client logs in to the Portal, they will be able to view all Daily Logs created for the Project—excluding any weather tracking entries. However, keep in mind that ClientLink permissions are global, so ALL ClientLink Users will be able to view daily logs in their respective Project Portals.
- Generate a report: sometimes you may not want your clients to view all the daily logs for a project. Or, you may not want all of your clients to have the same level of viewing permissions for daily logs. In these cases, you can generate one of ConstructionOnline's Daily Log Reports and share it with your client! You can generate a report for a single daily log, multiple daily logs of the same type, or even several different types of daily logs! Once your report has been created, you can distribute it to your clients by sending it via email, uploading it to ConstructionOnline Files, downloading it as a PDF, or printing out a physical copy.
Can I receive immediate notifications when subcontractors create daily logs?
Yes! You can customize the notification settings for your ConstructionOnline Account to receive instant notifications when other users, like subcontractors, create new daily logs. To receive daily log notifications in real-time, set your notification frequency as "Immediately After Event Occurs". Then, scroll down to the Daily Logging section in your notification settings. For the event type "Log Entry Created", mark the checkboxes for email and/or text notifications. You can also choose to receive notifications when a daily log is edited or you are designated as a resource on a daily log.
Please note that to receive text notifications, your Contact Info must include both a phone number AND mobile provider.
Will clients receive notifications when we create daily logs?
If you have given your ClientLink™ Users permission to view daily logs in the Project Portal, they may choose to receive notifications for daily logs. Clients can customize their notification preferences by managing the notification settings for their account. Clients can choose to receive notifications for when a daily log is created and/or updated. Clients can also choose the frequency and delivery method of their notifications.
