Understanding Notification Settings

Determine which notification settings work best for your ConstructionOnline Account.

Notification Settings control the frequency and format of notifications delivered in ConstructionOnline, as well as the event types that trigger these notifications.

All Company Users can use ConstructionOnline's notification settings to set their own preferred notifications. Additionally, Company Admin Users can set notification preferences for Company Employees—overriding any of their existing notification settings.

With five different notification frequencies, it can be a challenge deciding which notification frequency should be selected. To determine the notification setting that best supports your day-to-day use of ConstructionOnline, learn more about how each frequency functions.

Immediately After Event Occurs

This notification frequency delivers immediate notifications for user-selected ConstructionOnline events. Users have the flexibility to select which events will trigger immediate notifications, as well as determine the type of notification that is delivered—email, text message, or both.

However, certain communication related events will always trigger immediate email notifications. These events cannot be customized and will always stay selected, no matter the notification frequency.

Every Two Hours, Every Four Hours, or Once Daily

These notification frequencies deliver two types of notifications:

  1. Activity summary emails
  2. Immediate email notifications after certain events

Activity summary emails provide a condensed version of ConstructionOnline activity from within a specified timeframe. As these frequency names suggest, users can select a time frame of every two hours, every four hours, or once daily. Users will receive emails summarizing recent ConstructionOnline activity from within the specified time frame. If no activity from all pre-selected events has occurred during the time frame, the user will not receive an activity summary email.

Users do not have the flexibility to select which events are included within the activity summary emails. The majority of event types listed under Notification Settings will be included in the summary email if they occur.

In addition to activity summary emails, certain communication related events will trigger immediate email notifications. These notifications are an automatic function of ConstructionOnline and cannot be edited or turned off. Events that trigger immediate email notifications will not be included in activity summary emails.

Never

This notification frequency disables all optional notifications, vastly decreasing the number of notifications users can receive. However, certain communication related events will still trigger immediate email notifications. These notifications are an automatic function of ConstructionOnline and cannot be edited or turned off.

The following events will trigger immediate email notifications, regardless of notification frequency:

  • Announcement Created
  • Message Created by Someone Else
  • RFI Created
  • New Response to RFI
  • RFI Marked as Resolved/Unresolved
  • You Designated as a Resource for RFI
  • Submittal Created
  • New Response to Submittal
  • Submittal Marked as Closed
  • Transmittal Created
