Designate the Type of a To Do

Identify the type of construction tasks on your list with flexible detail fields for ConstructionOnline™ To Dos

BACKGROUND

As a part of ConstructionOnline's powerful project tracking toolkit, construction companies are provided with cutting-edge task management tools allowing them to build, assign, track, and complete detailed, cloud-based To Do Lists. One of the 25+ data points available for tasks in ConstructionOnline is the Type field—a custom field companies can use to identify what type of task their To Do or Subtask is (i.e. a phone call, an email, a follow-up task, etc.). In addition to using the Type field to maximize the clarity and detail of task lists, users can also organize their tasks by Type within the Group By and Board View interfaces for ultimate visibility and insight.

VIDEO WALKTHROUGH 

STEPS TO DESIGNATE THE TYPE OF A TO DO

    1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
    2. Select the Project Tracking tab to automatically open the To Do Lists category.
    3. Within the To Dos pane in any View, locate the To Do you wish to add a Type Unit to.
    4. Right-click on the To Do, and select the "Edit To Do" option. 
    5. This will open the To Do blade extension where you can choose to assign a Type Unit by clicking into the Type field and selecting the desired option from the dropdown menu.
      1. ConstructionOnline provides four preloaded Type options: Phone Call, Email, Follow Up, and Task.
      2. The "None" option is selected for this field by default and appears first within the dropdown menu.
        1. Selecting the "None" option leaves the Type field blank.
      3. Other Type Units fall below the dotted line and, when selected, immediately populate to the Type field. 
      4. Type Units can be customized by clicking the gear icon ⚙️ at the top right corner of the dropdown menu. 
    6. Finalize the newly designated Type by clicking the blue "Save" button. 
      1. Type Units will populate within the "Type" column in List and Group By Views.

    ⭐ Prefer to work spreadsheet-style? To Dos can managed via inline editing on the dynamic tables in List & Group By Views by simply clicking into the desired cell and making your desired modifications. 

    ⭐Working in Board View? If you have Type information shown on your Card Layout, Type Units can be assigned or modified directly on To Do cards!

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • Working with To Dos that are not assigned to a Project? All Company To Dos can be accessed from Company Overview > Project Tracking > To Do Lists.
    • Type can be designated for both To Dos and Subtasks.
    • Permissions: ConstructionOnline Company Users must have "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" To Do Lists permissions to be able to set or modify To Do details, including Type. 
      • Additionally, any Company User added as an Assigned Resource to a To Do can manage the To Do's Type, despite their To Do Lists permissions. 
    • ClientLink™/TeamLink™ Access: In addition to global ClientLink/TeamLink permissions for To Do Lists, ClientLink and TeamLink Users must also be added as an Assigned Resource in order to manage a To Do's Type field.
    • CO™ Mobile App: The Type field of To Dos can be modified from the CO Mobile App.
