Customizing To Do List Interfaces

Edit Card Layout in Board View

Customize what information you want to appear, and where you want it to appear, on To Do cards in Board View


With ConstructionOnline's Kanban-inspired Board View, construction pros can display and arrange their ConstructionOnline™ To Dos on "cards" mimicking sticky notes, allowing them to move tasks between different stages or categories, or manage tasks from independent columns tailored to specific workflows. To personalize the task management experience, each user can customize the style and formatting of their To Do cards, as well as what information they wish to appear on their cards, via the Card Layout settings so that they are only seeing the information relevant to them!

  1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
  2. Select the Project Tracking tab to automatically open the To Do Lists category.
  3. Click on the grey three-dot action menu  located in the top right corner of the To Dos pane and select the "To Do Settings" option from the dropdown menu.
    1. To Do Settings are available from all three To Do interfaces: List, Group By, and Board. 
  4. Within the Card Layout & Appearance Settings window, ensure you are within the Card Layout tab.
  5. Within the Card Layout tab, choose what information will appear on your To Do cards, and how it will appear, by selecting from the following options -
    1. Information to Include - Mark the checkbox next to the data you want to appear on your To Do cards

    2. Select Thumbnail Size - Use the dropdown menu to select the size (Small, Medium, or Large) for displaying attachment thumbnails 
    3. Arrange Card Layout - Use the Card Layout Preview to review what will display on your To Do cards as well as customize where you want the data to appear on the card
      1. Certain elements cannot be moved including the Completion Icon, Subject, Description, Attachment Thumbnail, and Related Project.
      2. All other data can be rearranged by clicking on the data element and dragging it to the desired location. 
      3. The default settings for To Do cards (which include the display of Assigned/Related Resources, Related Project, Image Attachments as a Large Thumbnail, Priority, and Due Date) can be restored at any time by clicking the blue "Restore Default Settings" text located under the Card Layout Preview. 
  6. Once you've finalized your To Do card layout, click the blue "Save" button. 
    1. Your To Do cards will automatically update in Board View based on the selected settings.


Please note this video tutorial shows To Dos displayed on the Board View. While the To Do Settings option (and subsequent Card Layout option) is available within the three-dot action menu of all three To Dos interfaces—List, Group By, and Board—To Dos display as "cards" in Board View exclusively.


  • To Dos can be created at the Company or Project level. More information on To Dos at the Company level can be found in this FAQ!
  • Any changes made to the display or organization of task data in ConstructionOnline's To Do feature—including any edits made to your To Do Card Layout—are user-specific and do not affect other team members' views.

  • Permissions: ConstructionOnline Company Users with To Do Lists permissions set to "Can View" or "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" can access and adjust the Card Layout settings.
    • Additionally, any Company User added as an Assigned or Related Resource to a To Do can access and adjust Card Layout settings, despite their To Do Lists permissions. 
  • ClientLink™/TeamLink™ Access: In addition to global ClientLink/TeamLink permissions for To Do Lists, ClientLink and TeamLink Users must also be added as an Assigned or Related Resource in order to access and manage Card Layout settings.
  • CO™ Mobile App: To Do Card Layout settings are exclusively available for browser access to ConstructionOnline. 
    • To Do Card Layout settings cannot be accessed via the CO Mobile App.
