Adjust Column Width in Board View

Ensure optimal visibility on construction tasks with ConstructionOnline's Column Width options for Board View


Designed as an interactive approach to construction task management, ConstructionOnline's Board View offers the same functionality as managing tasks in List View on a clean, visual "board" overview. Derived from the Kanban visual framework, Board View enables users to move construction tasks, which are displayed on "cards", through different stages or categories tailored to specific workflows. 

To personalize the task management experience, construction pros have the ability to customize the style and format of their ConstructionOnline™ To Do Lists with card layout options, color themes, card density specifications, and column width adjustments. ConstructionOnline provides four column width presets that accommodate different amounts of information and ensure construction pros can efficiently visualize, organize, and track their task lists according to their specific needs.

  1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
  2. Select the Project Tracking tab to automatically open the To Do Lists category.
  3. Ensure you are viewing your To Dos in the Board View, then click on the grey three-dot action menu  located in the top right corner of the To Dos pane.
  4. Hover over the "Column Width" option to reveal the four width options:
    1. Narrow - Provides a compact layout ideal for maximizing the number of columns displayed on screen
    2. Standard - Offers a balanced, comfortable viewing experience
      1. This is the default Column Width for Board View.
    3. Wide - Allows more content to be displayed horizontally with a broad, spacious card layout 
    4. Extra Wide - Designed to maximize the visibility of tasks, this option is ideal for users who need to display a large amount of content within each column
  5. Click on the desired Column Width option. ConstructionOnline will automatically update your To Do Cards in Board View to reflect the Column Width selected. 



  • To Dos can be created at the Company or Project level. More information on To Dos at the Company level can be found in this FAQ!
  • Any changes made to the display or organization of task data in ConstructionOnline's To Do feature—including any changes made to Column Width—are user-specific and do not affect other team members' views.

  • Permissions: ConstructionOnline Company Users with To Do Lists permissions set to "Can View" or "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" can access and adjust Column Width.
    • Additionally, any Company User added as an Assigned or Related Resource to a To Do can access and adjust Column Width, despite their To Do Lists permissions. 
  • ClientLink™/TeamLink™ Access: In addition to global ClientLink/TeamLink permissions for To Do Lists, ClientLink and TeamLink Users must also be added as an Assigned or Related Resource in order to access and manage Column Width.
  • CO™ Mobile App: Column Width settings are exclusively available for browser access to ConstructionOnline. 
    • Column Width settings cannot be accessed via the CO Mobile App.
