Assign Categories to ConstructionOnline™ To Dos for enhanced organization and detail

BACKGROUND

Engineered for efficiency, ConstructionOnline's industry-leading project tracking software empowers construction companies with flexible, cutting-edge tools for managing multiple types of task lists and logs. Within the To Do Lists feature, companies can create, assign, and track the progress of multi-level task lists, utilizing over 25 data points to ensure comprehensive task management. By leveraging the Category field, one of several custom field options available for ConstructionOnline To Dos, companies can provide further detail and organization by categorizing tasks however they need to improve clarity and project oversight.

VIDEO WALKTHROUGH 

STEPS TO ADD A CATEGORY TO A TO DO

    1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
    2. Select the Project Tracking tab to automatically open the To Do Lists category.
    3. Within the To Dos pane in any View, locate the To Do you wish to assign a Category.
    4. Right-click on the To Do, and select the "Edit To Do" option. 
    5. This will open the To Do blade extension where you can choose to assign a Category Unit by clicking into the Category field and selecting the desired option from the dropdown menu.
      1. ConstructionOnline provides five preloaded Category options: Administrative, Closeout, Design, Miscellaneous, and Preconstruction.
      2. The "None" option is selected for this field by default and appears first within the dropdown menu.
        1. Selecting the "None" option leaves the Category field blank.
      3. Other Category Units fall below the dotted line and, when selected, immediately populate to the Category field. 
      4. Category Units can be customized by clicking the gear icon ⚙️ at the top right corner of the dropdown menu. 
    6. Finalize the newly designated Category by clicking the blue "Save" button. 
      1. Category Units will populate within the "Category" column in List and Group By Views.

    ⭐ Prefer to work spreadsheet-style? To Dos can managed via inline editing on the dynamic tables in List & Group By Views by simply clicking into the desired cell and making your desired modifications. 

    ⭐Working in Board View? If you have Category information shown on your Card Layout, Category Units can be assigned or modified directly on To Do cards!

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • Working with To Dos that are not assigned to a Project? All Company To Dos can be accessed from Company Overview > Project Tracking > To Do Lists.
    • Categories can be designated for both To Dos and Subtasks.
    • Permissions: ConstructionOnline Company Users must have "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" To Do Lists permissions to be able to set or modify To Do details, including Categories. 
      • Additionally, any Company User added as an Assigned Resource to a To Do can manage the To Do's Category, despite their To Do Lists permissions. 
    • ClientLink™/TeamLink™ Access: In addition to global ClientLink/TeamLink permissions for To Do Lists, ClientLink and TeamLink Users must also be added as an Assigned Resource in order to manage a To Do's Category field.
    • CO™ Mobile App: The Category field of To Dos can be modified from the CO Mobile App.
