Create a Daily Log

Document construction job progress, site conditions, work delays, and more with detailed construction daily logs

BACKGROUND

As the industry's premier construction management software platform, ConstructionOnline™ keeps construction pros constantly connected to their projects & project team no matter where they are. With ConstructionOnline's powerful Project Tracking tools, ConstructionOnline Users can create detailed construction daily reports—also known as Daily Logs—to document project work, incurred delays, weather conditions, site deliveries & visitors, safety incidents, completion of scheduled tasks, resource performance, manpower usage, and other significant activities on the job site. Daily Logs offer a consistent, complete record of this information that keeps all project team members updated and informed on day-to-day job progress, while also acting as vital documentation for any legal disputes. 

THINGS TO CONSIDER

  • ConstructionOnline's user-friendly interface offers construction pros the ability to create multiple project logs in a streamlined, simplified entry sequence. 
  • When choosing which log(s) to create, Log Types that require daily entry will display a "Yes" within the "Required?" column.
  • ConstructionOnline Company Admin Users can manage the availability of log types for creation in the Settings for Log Type Visibility.

HOW TO CREATE A DAILY LOG

  1. Navigate to the Daily Logging feature within the desired Project
  2. Within the "Day" View, click the green (+) Create Log(s) button.

  3. This will open the "Create Log(s)" blade on the right-hand side of your screen. Choose the log type(s) you would like to create by ☑️ checking the box next to the desired option -

    1. Work Log: Describe field work and tasks accomplished on the job site 
    2. Equipment Log: Document rentals and utilization of equipment on-site
    3. Material Log: Record materials used for the job
    4. Project Note: Capture significant events or details relevant to the job
    5. Delay Log: Document any delays that occurred on the job site
    6. Observed Weather Log: Log weather conditions and any subsequent delays on the job site
    7. Visitor Log: Track individuals visiting the job site
    8. Delivery Log: Log any deliveries made to the job site
    9. Safety Log: Record any accidents, safety violations, or incidents that occurred on the job site
    10. Scheduled Work for Today: Pull Task details from the Project Schedule to report work completed against work scheduled  
      1. If there are no tasks scheduled on the selected date, this log type will not be available for creation and the checkbox will be greyed out.
    11. Schedule Resources Log: Pull Resource data from the Project Schedule to document workers onsite and record progress notes 
    12. Manpower Log: Log additional resources working on the job site that are not documented elsewhere in the system

  4. Following the prompts, fill in the details you wish to include on the log. The prompts provided for each log type will vary; however please take note of the required fields for each of the following log types - 
    1. The first question must be answered for Work, Equipment, Material, Project Note, Observed Weather, Visitor, and Delivery Logs.
    2. After entering the start and end times for a Delay Log, you must fill in details regarding the cause of the delay.
    3. After recording the type of incident that occurred within a Safety Log, you must note who was involved. 
    4. At least one Resource must be created for a Manpower Log
  5. Add any relevant files or photos to the log by clicking the "Upload photos or files" icon and choosing how you wish to upload your attachments, OR choose to "Skip upload" of additional attachments. 
  6. Once you've filled in the log's details, ConstructionOnline will prompt you with two options: 
    1. Show more Log Options - Choosing this hyperlinked text will open a window featuring various additional field options
      1. ConstructionOnline will automatically populate the previously recorded information into the respective fields. 
      2. The fields for each log type will vary. 
    2. Save Log - Choosing this option will officially create the new Daily Log
  7. Daily Logs will appear in Day, Month, and Timeline Views. Daily Log details can be expanded on cards in the Day and Timeline Views. Any files or photos attached to Daily Logs appear in the Photostream View.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Unless otherwise selected, Daily Logs will save as the current date.
  • Alternative Access Point: ConstructionOnline Company Users can also create new Daily Logs from the Month, Timeline, and Photostream Views via the green (+) Add New Log button. 
  • Permissions: Admin Users and Company Users with "Can Create, Edit & Delete" permissions for Daily Logging can create Daily Logs. 
  • ClientLink™ Access: ClientLink™ Users cannot create Daily Logs; however, depending upon the ConstructionOnline™ Company's ClientLink™ / TeamLink™ settings, they may have permission to view Daily Logs created by other users.
  • TeamLink™ Access: To create Daily Logs, TeamLink™ Users must have Daily Logging permissions for TeamLink™ settings set as "Can View, Create, and Edit".
  • CO™ Mobile App: Company Users can also use the CO Mobile App to create Daily Logs.
