OBJECTIVE
To create a new project from a Project Template in ConstructionOnline™
BACKGROUND
ConstructionOnline™ is expertly engineered to help construction companies streamline project management through the execution of scalable, repeatable processes. Project Templates group multiple project management elements together, offering a single standardized roadmap for project creation. Save valuable time during initial project setup by using Project Templates to instantly generate the project's Scope of Work, Estimate, Schedule, Selections, To Dos, Checklists, and more.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
- ConstructionOnline™ Project Templates are a property of the ConstructionOnline™ Company Account.
- Company Accounts can store an unlimited number of Project Templates.
- All Company Users have access to Company Project Templates from
- the Company Projects tab
(Overview > Company Projects > Templates > Project Templates) - the Templates dropdown list when Creating a New Project
- the Company Projects tab
- Project Templates can include any of the following Project Elements: Contacts, Folders & Files, Albums & Photos, Punch Lists, Daily Logs, Change Orders, Estimate, Selections, Change Orders, Schedule, To Dos, and/or Checklists.
- Users can select which Project Elements to include on each new project created from the Project Template.
- Project Templates can only be applied to new projects created from ConstructionOnline™. Project Templates are not accessible via CO™ Mobile.
STEPS TO CREATE A NEW PROJECT FROM A PROJECT TEMPLATE
- Click the green +New button at the top left of any page in ConstructionOnline™
- Select New Project from the dropdown menu
- This will open the New Project window

- Choose to Create from a Template
- To create from scratch, view Create a New Project from Scratch
- Select the desired Project Template from the dropdown menu.
The list of available Project Templates is populated from the list of saved Company Project Templates which can be managed from the Company Projects tab on the Company Overview. - Click Continue to confirm template selection
- This will open the Create Project from Template window. Progress through tabs to complete new project setup:

- Details: Include Project Name, Project Number, Project Address, as well as Initial Contract Price and Initial Project Duration
- Project Name will automatically populate as "New Project from [Template Name]"
- Custom organizational fields like Project Type, Group, Stage, Category, Office, Division, and Region are populated here. Click the gear icon next to any field heading to customize options available for that field.
- Scope of Work: Define the scope of the project with ConstructionOnline's comprehensive text editing tools, which include options for bulleted or numbered lists, hyperlinks, tables, and more
- Project Image: Image will populate if included in Project Template. Users can Change Image to populate a different image or Clear Image to remove image altogether.
- Project Elements: Choose which Project Elements saved to the Project Template to include in the new project
- All Project Elements saved as part of the Project Template will be selected by default. Deselect to prevent inclusion in the new project.
- Elements not saved as part of the Project Template will be grayed out.
- Contacts: Choose which Contacts to include as part of the Project Team on the new project
- Contacts saved as part of the Project Team on the Project Template will be automatically selected by default. Deselect to prevent inclusion on the new project's Project Team.
- All Company Employees, ClientLink™ Contacts, TeamLink™ Contacts, and Basic Contacts are accessible here for inclusion on the new project's Project Team.
- Cost Codes: If Cost Codes were saved to the Project Template, Cost Codes will be toggled "On" and the Cost Code List saved to the Project Template will be selected for use on the new project. Note that once the project is created, the selected Cost Code List cannot be altered.
- If Cost Codes were not saved to the Project Template, Cost Codes will be toggled "Off." To apply Cost Codes to the new project being created, toggle Cost Codes "On," and choose the Cost Code List preferred for the new project.
- Key Roles: Choose Key Roles for Project Team members and select to show in ClientLink™ and/or TeamLink™ Portals
- Key Role preferences saved on the Project Template will automatically populate by default, but may be altered here as needed for the new project.
- Site Instructions: Any jobsite instructions, notes, and other information saved to the Project Template will automatically populate here. Edit information or add details as needed for the new project.
- Site Instructions will be included in project invitations sent via email to TeamLink™ Contacts on the new project.
- Project Status: Project will automatically be set to "Pending" or "Live" status based on the setting saved to the Project Template, however the status can be adjusted as appropriate for the new project being created.
- Projects set to "Pending" are only accessible for viewing and editing by Company Admin Users and the Project Creator
- Projects set to "Live" are accessible for viewing and editing by all assigned Company Users included on the Project Team under Contacts.
- ClientLink™ and TeamLink™ Contacts selected as part of the Project Team under Contacts will receive Project Invitations via email upon completion of new project setup for projects set to "Live."
- Email and text notifications will be activated for projects set to "Live."
- Details: Include Project Name, Project Number, Project Address, as well as Initial Contract Price and Initial Project Duration
6. Following completion of all project information in the Create Project from Template window, click Save to confirm creation of the new project. ConstructionOnline™ will automatically redirect you to the new project's Project Overview.
