Filter Daily Logs

Organize & manage construction daily reports with ease using ConstructionOnline's Daily Logging Filters

BACKGROUND

Within the industry-leading software for construction daily logging, project information can be easily recorded, organized & reviewed by date, and stored in a single, secure location: ConstructionOnline™. Once stored in ConstructionOnline™, the information related to construction daily reports is easily accessible through Filters. ConstructionOnline™ offers Company Users six Filter options they can use to quickly find, organize, and manage their Daily Logging information within the Timeline and Day Views

STEPS TO FILTER DAILY LOGS

  1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
  2. Select the Project Tracking tab and choose the Daily Logging category.
  3. Within the Timeline or Day view, expand the Filters widget by clicking the gray arrow next to the word "Filters".
    1. The Filters widget is located directly beneath the green (+) Add New Log button. 
  4. Choose your desired Filters from the respective dropdown menus: 
    1. Date Logged: Filters Daily Logs by a date range
      1. This Filter is only available within the Daily Logging Timeline view. 
      2. ConstructionOnline™ filters the Date Range to include "All" Daily Logs by default.
      3. To select a specific date range you can either click into the Date Logged field and: 
        1. Select one of the preloaded Date Ranges from the Date Range dropdown menu. Preloaded options include: Custom, Today, Yesterday, Last 30 Days, Last 90 Days, This Month, Last Month, Last Year, Year to Date, and All. 

          OR

        2. Choose the "Custom" option from the Date Range dropdown menu and select a custom date range by either typing the desired dates into the Start Date and End Date fields or selecting the desired dates from the calendars below.
          1. Dates selected from the calendars will automatically populate to the Start Date and End Date fields. 
      4. Finalize your Date Range by clicking the blue "Apply" button. 
    2. Creator: Filters Daily Logs by the Creator of the Log 
      1. ConstructionOnline™ filters Daily Logs to include "All" Creators by default.
      2. Select one or multiple Creators to filter Daily Logs by from the dropdown list of Company Contacts. 
        1. All Company Contacts appear within the Creator dropdown list with the current user appearing first and all other users appearing in alphabetical order subsequently. 
    3. Related Contact: Filters Daily Logs by the Related Contact(s) attached to the log 
      1. ConstructionOnline™ filters Daily Logs to include "All" Related Contact(s) by default.
      2. Select one or multiple Related Contact(s) to filter Daily Logs by from the dropdown list of Company Contacts. 
        1. All Company Contacts appear within the Related Contact dropdown list with the current user appearing first and all other users appearing in alphabetical order subsequently. 
    4. Log Type: Filters Daily Logs by Log Type and/or Weather Tracking 
      1. ConstructionOnline™ filters Daily Logs to include "All" Log Types & Weather Tracking by default.
      2. Select one or multiple Log Types and/or Weather Tracking to filter Daily Logs by from the dropdown list. 
    5. Trade: Filters Daily Logs by the Trade(s) associated with the Log
      1. ConstructionOnline™ filters Daily Logs to include "All" Trades by default.
      2. Select one or multiple Trades to filter Daily Logs by from the dropdown list. 
        1. All Trade Units—both preloaded and custom—from the Trades list populate in the dropdown list.
        2. Trade Units can be managed from multiple features within ConstructionOnline™.
    6. Cost Code: Filters Daily Logs by the Cost Code attached to the Log 
      1. If Cost Codes have been assigned to the Project, you can type the desired Cost Code(s) into the Cost Code field and select them from the dropdown menu to add as a Filter. 
      2. A "Cost codes are not assigned to this project" message will appear within the Cost Code field if Cost Codes have not been assigned to the Project. 
        1. Cost Codes can be assigned through the Project Details modal.
  5. Filters are applied automatically to the Daily Logging view as selected. 
    1. Applied Filters will appear as tags next to the "Filters" heading within the Filters widget. 
      1. To clear individual Filters, click the "X" next to the Filter you wish to remove. 
      2. To clear ALL Filters, click the red "X Clear Filters" button at the top righthand of the widget. 
  6. Click the gray arrow next to the word "Filters" to hide the Filters widget once your choices have been finalized. 

Want to streamline your Daily Logging Timeline view to just Logs? Within the Filters widget, click the gray checkbox next to ✔️ "Hide Weather Entries" to remove Daily Weather summaries from your Daily Logging timeline.

Please Note: This video tutorial shows how to filter by Date Logged and Related Contact as well as how to Hide Weather Entries. Depending upon your Daily Logging View, you have up to six Filter options for your Daily Logs. See the step-by-step instructions above for more information.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Filters are user-specific and persist when navigating away from the Daily Logging feature. 
  • More information on Daily Logging views can be found in the Understanding Daily Log Views article. 
  • Permissions: Any ConstructionOnline™ Company User can access Daily Logging Filter options.
    • ClientLink™ Users with Daily Logging permissions set to "Can view all Daily Log entries" can access all Daily Logging Filter options except the Cost Code filter. 
    • TeamLink™ Users with Daily Logging permissions set to "Can view, create, and edit their own log entries" and/or those who have access to "All log entries" can access all Daily Logging Filter options except the Cost Code filter. 
  • Mobile App: Daily Logging Filter options are exclusively available through browser access to ConstructionOnline™.
