Edit a Punch List Item Issue

BACKGROUND

Engineered to add structure and detail to construction project quality control needs, ConstructionOnline's Punch List software offers construction pros effective ways to create, organize, and manage detailed, online construction Punch Lists.

A property of Punch List Items, Item Issues provide construction companies with a way to add additional tasks and/or details to the structure of their Punch Lists. Because the scope of construction projects is ever-changing, ConstructionOnline™ provides seamless ways to modify the details of Punch Lists and their respective Items and Item Issues.

VIDEO WALKTHROUGH

STEPS TO EDIT A PUNCH LIST ITEM ISSUE

  1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
  2. Select the Project Tracking tab and choose the Punch Lists category.
  3. Click on the Punch List that houses the Item Issue you wish to edit to open it.
    1. If the Punch List is stored within a Folder, drill down to the specific Punch List by clicking on & opening the relevant Folder(s).
  4. Within the Punch List, right-click on the Item Issue you wish to edit and select "Edit Item Issue" from the dropdown menu. 
  5. From the Issue Details window, make your desired changes to the Item Issue's  details. 
    1. All fields are modifiable.
  6. Finalize your edits by clicking the blue "Save Changes" button.

ALTERNATIVE ACCESS POINT

ConstructionOnline™ provides two additional access points for managing Item Issue details:

A. From Punch List Items:

  • Follow Steps 1-3 above
  • Within the Punch List, right-click on the Item housing the Item Issue you wish to edit and select "Manage Issues" from the dropdown menu. 
  • From the Item Issues tab, click on the pencil icon next to the Item Issue you wish to edit.  pencil icon
  • Follow Steps 5 & 6 above.

B. From the Item Issues view: 

  • Follow Steps 1 & 2 above
  • Within the Punch Lists pane, select the Item Issues view

  • From the Item Issues view, find the Item Issue you wish to edit. 
    • All Item Issues from all Project Punch Lists will populate within this view. 
  • Hover over the desired Item Issue and click the gray three-dot action menu on the far right of the Item Issue's row. 
  • Select "Edit Item Issue" from the dropdown menu. 
  • Follow Steps 5 & 6 above.

TIPS & TRICKS

Looking to make the same edit for several Punch List Item Issues? Save time by using ConstructionOnline's multi-select feature, which allows you to perform bulk-edits on multiple Item Issues at once. The following Punch List Item Issue properties can be edited in bulk: Priority, Status, Percent Complete, Trade, Resources, and Due Date. However, only one property can be edited in bulk at a time. 

  • To enable multi-select, hold down the Ctrl/Command key on your keyboard. Please use the Ctrl key if using a Windows device and the Command key for a macOS device. 
  • Within the Item Issues view, click on the desired Item Issues you would like to edit in bulk. Each Item Issue you select will appear highlighted in either blue or dark grey, depending on your display settings. 
  • Release the Ctrl/Command key, then right-click on any selected Item Issue and select the option "Edit Item Issues".

  • Using the dropdown menu labeled "Select a Property to Edit", select which property you would like to edit.
  • After selecting a property, use the second dropdown menu or text box to enter your edits. 
  • Click the blue Save button to save your new changes to the Punch List Item Issues.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Permissions: ConstructionOnline™ Company Users must have Punch Lists permissions set to "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" to edit Item Issues details. 
    • Depending upon their Punch List permissions and assigned roles, ClientLink™ and TeamLink™ Users can "see Punch Lists they're assigned a Viewer on, make changes to Punch Lists they're assigned an Editor on, and make changes to Punch List Items they're an Assigned Resource on." 
  • Mobile App: Edits can be made to Item Issues from the CO™ Mobile App.
