What are the differences between Messages, Announcements, Inbound Emails, and Envoy™ Chat in ConstructionOnline? 

ConstructionOnline provides several different communication tools you can use to disseminate and discuss critical project information with your project team:

📨 Messages: ConstructionOnline Project Messages were designed to eliminate the frustrations that come with using your email inbox or text messages to conduct communication about your projects. With ConstructionOnline Messages, you can organize conversations—which are limited to your ConstructionOnline Contacts only—based on the Project they are relevant to so that you don't have to worry about keeping files sorted in a drawer, reading page after page of emails to find one thread, or searching through your phone for certain conversations. ConstructionOnline keeps all project discussions in one place so they can be easily referenced with intuitive search and filter options.

🔊 Announcements: ConstructionOnline Announcements make it easy to ensure your team is always up to speed by allowing you to share important information with your entire team. Think of Announcements like an online sticky-note—a way for you to post critical information company-wide or for a specific Project that your team can view, but not respond to.

📫 Inbound Emails: ConstructionOnline's Inbound Email tool provides each of your Projects in ConstructionOnline with a dedicated email address you can use to receive external emails straight into ConstructionOnline. By managing external emails and documents with your ConstructionOnline Inbound Email, you'll be able to have organized, searchable, and filterable historical records of your project correspondence safely stored in one place, not buried amongst other emails and documents. Additionally, you can control inbound access by designating approved senders and setting permissions for your employees—eliminating junk mail and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. 

💬 Envoy™ Chat: ConstructionOnline's Envoy Chat tool is an internal chat tool that allows your team to instantly send messages, attach files, and keep accurate records of communication all within ConstructionOnline. You can easily send messages to your team members individually or as a group through both browser access to ConstructionOnline and the CO™ Mobile App. Additionally, you can send direct links to ConstructionOnline features so that your team can maintain clear communication and easy access to your project information. 

Which ConstructionOnline Communication tools can I get through the CO Mobile App? 

ConstructionOnline Messages, Announcements, and Envoy Chat are available on the CO Mobile App. The Inbound Email tool is available exclusively through browser access to ConstructionOnline. 

When should I use Announcements vs. other Communication tools in ConstructionOnline? 

ConstructionOnline Announcements are like an online sticky-note—a way for you to post critical information company-wide or for a specific Project that your team can view, but not respond to. Announcements are a great way to quickly communicate any schedule changes, job site information, meeting updates, reminders, or convey any information that doesn't require immediate feedback or discussion.

Can I respond to an Announcement?

No. Announcements were designed as a way to make important project information visible to your team without the need for feedback or discussion. 

If you are looking for a way to share and discuss project information with other members of your Project Team, consider some of ConstructionOnline's other Communication tools such as Project Messages. More information on the Communication tools available to you can be found here

What is the point of sending an Announcement if no one can respond? 

Announcements were designed as a way to make important project information visible to your team without the need for feedback or discussion. They're great for communicating things like progress updates, scheduling changes, and job site information as well as for sending out reminders for meetings, submission of documentation, deadlines, etc. 

If you are looking for a way to share and discuss project information with other members of your Project Team, consider some of ConstructionOnline's other Communication tools such as Project Messages. More information on the Communication tools available to you can be found here

Who can see Announcements?

Announcements made at the Company level can be seen by all Company Users. Announcements made for a specific Project can be seen by all Company Users added to the Project, as well as any ClientLink or TeamLink Users that were added to the Project AND have permissions for Announcements enabled.

Who can receive Announcements?

Company Users will receive all Announcements made at the Company level. Members of a Project Team, such as Company, ClientLink, and TeamLink Users, will receive any Announcements made for a specific Project. Note that ClientLink and TeamLink Users must have permissions for Announcements enabled to view them in ConstructionOnline. Posted Announcements will appear in ConstructionOnline within the Announcements section of the Company Overview and on relevant Project pages.

When an Announcement is created, the creator of the Announcement also has the option to notify specific users by email. These selected users will receive an email notification signaling that an announcement was made. 

Can I send an Announcement to specific users?

No, you cannot send an Announcement to specific users. Announcements serve as a one-way communication tool to quickly convey important company or project information to a large group of users. If an Announcement is made at the Company level, it can be seen by all Company Users. If an announcement is made for a specific Project, it can be seen by all members of the Project Team including Company Users, ClientLink Users, and TeamLink Users with permission to view Announcements.

When an announcement is created, the creator of the Announcement also has the option to notify specific users by email. These selected users will receive an email notification signaling that an Announcement was made.
