Manage To Do Column Order & Visibility in List and Group By Views

ConstructionOnline's List and Group By Views revolutionize construction task management with a cutting-edge dynamic table that simplifies viewing, organizing, and updating ConstructionOnline™ To Dos. Featuring a familiar spreadsheet format, users benefit from List and Group By View's exceptional flexibility and control with functions like inline editing, interactive cells, adjustable column controls, and more. To ensure users can arrange their data to best suit their specific workflows and/or preferences, one customization option ConstructionOnline provides is the ability choose what columns appear, and where they appear, with Column Order & Visibility Settings. Within the Column Order & Visibility controls, users can display or remove columns from view, define the order in which columns appear, and/or fix columns in place to ensure they are always viewing the information they need, the way they need it.

  1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
  2. Select the Project Tracking tab to automatically open the To Do Lists category.
  3. From the To Dos pane in List or Group By Views, right-click on any column header and select the "Show/Hide Column" option.
  4. Within the "Column Order & Visibility" window, choose which columns will show and in what order with the following actions - 
    1. Show/Hide Columns - Mark the checkbox next to columns you want to be visible and/or unmark checkboxes next to columns you want to remove from view
      1. All columns are shown by default; however, if you've made changes to the visibility of your columns and would like to show all columns once again, mark the checkbox next to ☑️ Select All. 
      2. The "To Do" column cannot be hidden as it is essential for understanding and managing tasks effectively. 
    2. Order Columns - The order in which columns appear can be customized by clicking and dragging column rows in the list to establish the way they appear on dynamic tables in List and Group By Views
    3. Lock Columns - To keep important columns visible while scrolling horizontally, columns can be locked by hovering over the desired column name and clicking the blue "Lock Column" text or the 🔓 lock icon. 
      1. The "Sort Number" and "To Do" columns are locked by default. 
      2. Upon locking a column, the column will move above the dotted line at the top of the Column Order & Visibility window. This differentiates columns that have been locked and signifies that they will appear at the beginning of the dynamic table. 
      3. Columns can be unlocked at any time by hovering over the locked column name and clicking the blue "Unlock Column" text or the 🔒 lock icon. 
    4. Restore Defaults - The default settings for Column Order & Visibility can be restored at any time by clicking the blue "Restore Defaults" text at the bottom of the "Column Order & Visibility" window. This will make all columns visible, restore the order of columns to their original arrangement, and lock the "Sort Number" and "To Do" columns. 
  5. Once you've finalized the changes to your To Do Column Order & Visibility, click the blue "Save" button. 
    1. Any changes made to the order or visibility of columns will be reflected on the dynamic table in both List and Group By Views.

👋 Helpful Hints 

Some To Do columns can be hidden directly on the table by right-clicking on the column header and selecting the "Hide This Column" option.



  • To Dos can be created at the Company or Project level. More information on To Dos at the Company level can be found in this FAQ!
  • Any changes made to the display or organization of task data in ConstructionOnline's To Do feature—including any changes made to Column Order & Visibility—are user-specific and do not affect other team members' views.
  • Permissions: ConstructionOnline Company Users with To Do Lists permissions set to "Can View" or "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" can customize Column Order & Visibility.
    • Additionally, any Company User added as an Assigned or Related Resource to a To Do can customize Column Order & Visibility, despite their To Do Lists permissions. 
  • ClientLink™/TeamLink™ Access: In addition to global ClientLink/TeamLink permissions for To Do Lists, ClientLink and TeamLink Users must also be added as an Assigned or Related Resource in order to customize Column Order & Visibility.
  • CO™ Mobile App: Column Order & Visibility settings are exclusively available for browser access to ConstructionOnline. 
    • Column Order and Visibility settings cannot be accessed via the CO Mobile App.
