Managing OnPlan™ Schedules

Guide to ConstructionOnline’s Auto-Shift™ Mode

Streamline construction schedule task management in ConstructionOnline™ with Auto-Shift Mode

BACKGROUND

Auto-Shift Mode is an innovative addition to ConstructionOnline’s OnPlan™ Scheduling feature that automates schedule management. When enabled, Auto-Shift Mode automatically updates the end date of tasks marked complete to the current date. These intuitive updates save time, reduce manual adjustments, and help builders keep projects on track, ensuring jobs are completed on time and under budget.

THINGS TO CONSIDER

  • Auto-Shift Trigger: When a Schedule Task is marked complete with Auto-Shift Mode toggled On, the end date automatically updates to the current date. If the task's start date falls after the current date, it will automatically shift to align with the current date as well.
  • Dependent and ASAP Tasks: Auto-Shift rescheduling applies to dependent tasks (based on Predecessor Relationships) and ASAP tasks. Dependent tasks will adjust to maintain the logical flow of your schedule, provided relationships are correctly set.
  • Conflict Alerts: If an Auto-Shift adjustment violates one or more Predecessor Relationships, ConstructionOnline will display a warning message to alert you of the conflict. You can then choose how to proceed:
    • Mark the task complete, but don't shift the task date
    • Mark the task complete, shift the task dates, and remove the predecessor relationships
    • Cancel: don't mark the task complete and don't shift the task dates

      1. While Auto-Shift Mode is generally recommended for efficiency, you may choose to disable it if you prefer to manually manage end dates for certain tasks or require more granular control over schedule adjustments.

⚠️ Important: Auto-Shift Mode is a global setting—toggling it On or Off in one Project applies the change to all Projects within your Company Account.

Therefore, we recommend confirming its status before making intended adjustments to any Project Schedule.
