      Duplicate an Estimate Category, Subcategory, or Item

      Quickly create a copy of an individual Estimate Category, Subcategory, or Item within a construction estimate.

      BACKGROUND

      With OnCost™ Estimating––ConstructionOnline's industry-leading construction estimating software solution––ConstructionOnline™ Company Users can easily & efficiently build comprehensive construction estimates to track project expenses, profit margins, overhead costs, and more with ease. To help streamline the creation & management of construction estimates, Company Users can quickly duplicate an existing Estimate Category, Subcategory, or Item for reuse within a single Estimate. 

      STEPS TO DUPLICATE AN ESTIMATE CATEGORY, SUBCATEGORY, OR ITEM

      1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
      2. Select the Financials tab, which will automatically open the Estimating category. 
      3. In your Estimate, locate the Category, Subcategory, or Item that you would like to copy. 
        1. Category: to duplicate an Estimate Category, you must be on the Project Totals sheet of your Estimate. Categories cannot be copied from any other location within your Estimate. 
        2. Subcategory: to duplicate an Estimate Subcategory, you may be on the Project Totals sheet OR on the sheet that contains the Subcategory. 
        3. Item: to duplicate an Estimate Item, you must be on the sheet that contains the Item.
      4. Right-click the desired Category, Subcategory, or Item.
      5. Select the "Duplicate ---" option.

      ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

      • When a Category is duplicated, any Subcategories (and subsequent Items within each Subcategory) in the Category are also duplicated.  
        • When a Subcategory is duplicated, all Items within the Subcategory are also duplicated.
        • When an Item is duplicated, any column values assigned to the Item are also duplicated. Example: Name, Description, Base Cost, Tax Type, etc. 
      • Estimate Categories, Subcategories, and Items cannot be duplicated from one Estimate to another. 
      • Permissions: Company Users must have Estimating permissions set as "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" to duplicate an Estimate Category, Subcategory, or Item. 
      • Mobile App: Duplicating within an Estimate is only accessible via browser access to ConstructionOnline. Estimates are presented in View-Only Mode on the ConstructionOnline™ Mobile App. 

      Note: When an Estimate Category, Subcategory, or Item is duplicated, a copy is created directly underneath the existing Category, Subcategory, or Item. If the duplicated Category, Subcategory, or Item is not in the desired location, the Company User will have to move it after duplication.

      To duplicate an Estimate Category, Subcategory, or Item to an exact location, ConstructionOnline™ Company Users can use OnCost™ Estimating's built-in copy & paste functions instead. Once an Estimate Category, Subcategory, or Item is copied, the Company User can select a desired location to paste the Category, Subcategory, or Item.
