Add Notes to a Change Order

Provide additional documented details using Notes for ConstructionOnline's change order software

BACKGROUND

As the industry's leading construction management software provider, ConstructionOnline™ empowers construction companies with award-winning software solutions for managing all business financials. 

Part of ConstructionOnline's financial toolkit includes cloud-based change order management where users can create & manage detailed change orders. 

To support a high level of detail, ConstructionOnline™ offers users the option to add Notes to Change Orders—a dedicated space to document additional information regarding the change order.

VIDEO WALKTHROUGH

STEPS TO ADD NOTES TO A CHANGE ORDER

  1. Navigate to the desired Project via the Left Sidebar.
  2. Select the Financials tab and choose the Change Orders category.
  3. Click anywhere on the Change Order you wish to add Notes to in order to open the Change Order Details window.  
  4. Within the Change Order Details window, select the Notes tab.
  5. Enter and/or edit your Notes in the textbox
    1. Pro Tip: Use the "Insert Time Stamp" option to automatically populate the specific date and time of Notes entry. Time Stamps cannot be retroactively populated. 
  6. Finalize adding your additional details to the Change Order by clicking the blue "Save" button OR clicking the "Save & Notify" button to finalize the Notes and send email notifications.
    1. Notes will automatically save to the ConstructionOnline™ Change Order and can be accessed by drilling into Change Order Details > Notes tab. 
    2. If you would like your additional details to have more visibility from the  ConstructionOnline™ Change Order Dashboards, consider adding your details as Descriptions when creating or editing a Change Order. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Notes can be added to Change Orders with any Status: Pending, Approved, and/or Rejected. 
  • Permissions: ConstructionOnline™ Company Users must have Change Orders permissions set to "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" to add or edit Notes within Change Order Details. 
    • ClientLink™ Users cannot add Notes to Change Orders; however, depending on their Change Orders permissions, they may be able to "view, approve, and/or reject Pending Change Orders" - which includes Change Order Notes. Additionally, their permissions may be further customized to: 
      • Receive Change Order email notifications 
      • Only show users the Change Orders they're assigned to 
      • Show Ordered/Delivered information for Change Orders 
    • TeamLink™ Users cannot add Notes to Change Orders; however, depending on the Change Orders permissions, they may be able to "view Change Orders they're assigned to" - which includes the Change Order's Notes. Additionally, their permissions may be further customized so that they can receive Change Order email notifications.
  • Mobile App: Change Order Notes can be added exclusively through browser access to ConstructionOnline™.
