Unlink a File from a Docusign™ Envelope in ConstructionOnline™
Disconnect a document from a Docusign Envelope
BACKGROUND
ConstructionOnline's Docusign integration streamlines the process of sending and managing digital signatures. In some cases, you may need to unlink a file from its associated Docusign envelope—for example, if a new version of the document must be sent, or if the envelope was generated in error.
Unlinking removes the envelope's connection to the file within ConstructionOnline while preserving the envelope in your Docusign account.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
- Your ConstructionOnline account must be integrated with an active Docusign account.
- Envelope actions are only available for documents that have generated a Docusign envelope and sent to Docusign.
- Unlinking does not delete the envelope in your Docusign account. It only removes ConstructionOnline's ability to track or manage the file's envelope activity.
- The unlink option is available at all stages of the envelope lifecycle:
- Before the envelope is sent
- After it has been sent but not yet completed
- After all recipients have completed their actions
🗒️ Note: While unlinking is technically possible at any stage, it's not recommended once signing is complete, as it removes the document's signature history from ConstructionOnline.
STEPS TO UNLINK A FILE FROM A DOCUSIGN ENVELOPE
- Navigate to the desired file within your ConstructionOnline account.
- Right-click on the document and select "View Details" from the dropdown menu.
- In the extension blade that opens on the right side of your screen to display the File Details, click the "Docusign" tab to view the envelope's status and available actions.
- At the bottom left, click the purple "Envelope Actions..." button.
- Select the red "Unlink this file from the Docusign Envelope" text.
- ConstructionOnline will require double-verification to complete the unlinking. Confirm your decision to unlink the document by clicking the red "Unlink" button.
- Once confirmed, the Envelope Activity Timeline will display the message:
"There is no Docusign activity to show for this file."
- Once confirmed, the Envelope Activity Timeline will display the message:
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Subscription Level: The Docusign eSignature Integration is available for ConstructionOnline accounts with active Team, Business, and Enterprise subscriptions.
- CO™ Mobile App: Docusign eSignature Integration is currently available exclusively via browser access to ConstructionOnline.
