Remove a construction permit from your ConstructionOnline™ Company Account
BACKGROUND
In situations where construction permits are created in error or become obsolete due to project revisions or regulatory changes, the ability to delete these permits is essential for maintaining data accuracy and project integrity. Retaining such permits can lead to confusion, hinder efficient data retrieval, and compromise compliance. The deletion functionality within ConstructionOnline is not merely a convenience but a critical component for effective project management, ensuring a clean and reliable permit record.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
⚠️ Important: Deleted permits cannot be recovered!
- Only Admin Users and Company Users with "Can Create, Edit, & Delete" permissions for Permits can delete existing permits.
- ConstructionOnline attempts to keep users from accidentally deleting permits from their Company Accounts by requiring them to archive the permit before deletion and making users explicitly verify the deletion of any construction permit before completing the action.
- Users can only delete a permit without archiving it first from within that permit's extension blade.
BEST PRACTICE RECOMMENDATION
Unless a permit has no potential future value, we strongly recommend archiving a permit rather than deleting it. This approach ensures data preservation, minimizes the risk of losing valuable information, and maintains a comprehensive and auditable project record within ConstructionOnline.
HOW TO DELETE A PERMIT
- Access the "Company Overview" tab through the Left Sidebar or the Company Selector in the Top Navigation Bar.
- Under the "Company" section, select "Permit Tracking."
- This will open your "Project Permits" List.
- Locate the desired permit you wish to delete.
- Right-click on the permit and select the "Archive" option.
- Once the permit is grayed out, signifying it has been successfully archived, right-click on the permit again.
- Select the red "Delete" option from the dropdown menu.
- ConstructionOnline will require double-verification to complete the permit deletion. Confirm your decision to delete the permit by clicking the red "Delete" button.
- ConstructionOnline will flash a message at the bottom right side of your screen confirming successful deletion. The blue "Undo" text is the only opportunity to revert the action.
